Kisses "Johnny & Mary"

During the past year of international touring, Kisses performed a dutiful cover of Robert Palmer’s « Johnny and Mary. » The melancholy lyrics and relentless repetition resonated with the band and became a staple at shows. For this recorded version, the group got production help from Brighton’s dance prodigy Dominic Ashton (Kinema) for a melodic and rhythmic rendition of one of Robert Palmer’s lesser known tracks, one that is found during the earlier portion of his career, before « Addicted to Love » and eye catching videos became his primary focus. The flip side of this single is a syrupy rework by newcomers Mozart Parties. The track’s echoes of longing and loss are a hint at what is to come from Kisses: a darker and sleeker version of a group finding a new voice while in the process of recording their second record.

Kisses will be touring the west coast with Keep Shelly in Athens in November as well as playing the FestivalEletronika in Brazil.

Greatest Hits was birthed by Zak Mering and Tyler Thacker in Los Angeles.  Initially it was a platform where disregarded demos and pieces of songs from a platitude of friends could be frankensteined together, breathing new life into things thought to be dead.  Moving to Brooklyn and stripping the source material down to the core members, Greatest HIts has for the past year been releasing and performing material that tends to air on the side of skewed dance music.  Continuing to work with an assortment of musicians and visual artists, Greatest HIts brings it’s bedroom wizardry and schizophrenic pop persona to the world through videos, mixtapes, and gunktvrecords.blogspot.com.  GH has been releasing with labels Olde English Spelling Bee (US), Sixteen Tambourines (Tokyo), Transparent (UK), and Maman (France) mid may .

Leno is from New Zealand, and now lives in Paris. He has his debut EP coming out on Parisian label Maman on april 25.
